This Privacy Policy explains what information the Photo Background Remover Android application (the “App”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to the practices described below.

1. Who we are

The App is published by AniSakthim. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at kirantsakthim@gmail.com or +977 9844650434.

2. What the App does

Photo Background Remover lets you pick a photo from your device, remove its background using on-device AI, refine the result with brush tools, and save the cut-out as a PNG or JPG to your device. The App does not require an account, does not upload your photos to any server, and works entirely on the device.

3. Information the App processes

3.1 Photos you choose

When you pick a photo, the App reads that image only on your device so it can be displayed and edited. The image is never transmitted to us or to any third party. Exported (saved) images are written to your device’s local Pictures folder under “BackgroundRemover”.

3.2 AI background detection (Google ML Kit — Subject Segmentation)

The App uses Google ML Kit’s on-device Subject Segmentation to detect the foreground subject of your photo. Image analysis runs entirely on your device. The model itself (~20 MB) is downloaded once by Google Play services. No image data leaves your device for this feature.

3.3 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App displays advertisements via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect a limited set of information to serve and measure ads, including:

  • Your device’s Advertising ID (a resettable identifier you can manage in your device’s settings).
  • Approximate IP-based location, device model, OS version, and language.
  • Crash and ad-interaction events for ad delivery and fraud prevention.

The App itself does not collect this data — it is collected by Google. Google’s handling of this data is governed by:

You can reset or opt out of personalized advertising at any time from your device:
Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID (or “Opt out of Ads Personalization”).

3.4 Crash and performance data (Google Play)

If you opt in to Google Play’s automatic crash and diagnostic reporting, Google may send us aggregated, anonymized crash and ANR reports through Google Play Console. We use these only to fix bugs.

4. Information the App does NOT collect

  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address.
  • We do not create or require an account.
  • We do not upload your photos to any server.
  • We do not access your contacts, calendar, microphone, camera roll metadata, location (precise or approximate), or any other data beyond what is described above.
  • We do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. Permissions the App requests

  • Internet and Network state — required by Google AdMob to load ads and by Google Play services to download the on-device AI model.
  • Storage / Photo picker — the App uses Android’s built-in photo picker to let you choose images. On older Android versions (Android 9 and below) the App also requests Write to External Storage so it can save exported images to your Pictures folder.

We do not request any other permissions.

6. Children’s privacy

The App is suitable for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Data retention

The App does not store your personal information on any server. All photos and edits live on your device. Uninstalling the App removes any data the App itself has stored.

8. Your choices

  • Manage your advertising ID: Settings → Google → Ads on your device.
  • Limit ad personalization: Toggle “Opt out of Ads Personalization” in the same screen.
  • Delete data: Uninstall the App. You can also clear the App’s data from Settings → Apps → Photo Background Remover → Storage → Clear data.

9. Security

We rely on standard Android sandboxing — your photos and the App’s data are private to the App on your device. Communication with Google services (ads, model download) uses HTTPS.

10. Third-party services used by the App
